About This Game Disney's Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon is a 3D RTS game focusing on space combat. In the main campaign's story-driven missions, you begin play as Jim Hawkins, a cadet in the Royal Navy's fight against pirates and the deadly Procyon Fleet, with an eye toward eventual promotion to fleet commander. Skirmish and multiplayer modes allow the choice of playing as all three factions. Successfully completed missions result in ship and fleet enhancements, more experienced crews, and upgraded weapons. Royal Navy Fleet weapons are only slightly inferior to the reworked weapons of the Procyon Fleet but are sturdier and less vulnerable. Ships for the Royal Navy range from torpedo boats and war sloops to escorts, frigates, and the impressive StarHammer, while pirates man sloops, gunboats, schooners, assault cutters, and more, including several unique designs like the carrack and barque. The Procyon Fleet is built for speed and maneuverability, geared for fast hit-and-run attacks, and as the game progresses, news of a mysterious Ironclad Fleet surfaces as well. Ship designs in Battle at Procyon are fashioned after the seafaring ships from the golden age of sail, with solar winds filling the sails and rigging. Arsenals reflect futuristic models of light, medium, and heavy weapons such as laserball and plasma cannons, beam weapons, Gatling guns, harpoons, fire and net launchers, gravity waves, torpedoes, mortars, and more. This was one of my favorite games growing up, and I'm happy to report that it lives up to the nostalgia. The mechanics are simple and fun, there are a variety of options when it comes to ships and weapons, plus a fun storyline with a twist that is totally ruined if you play the skirmish mode.. Absoutely Marvelous. Unfortunately the steam version does not have my old saves. I have completed the campaign with a total of 12 ships in the end and have kicked the Ai into submission hundreds of times in skirmish. Endless hours have been spent in the ship customizing section when preparing my fleet for Skirmishes. Old and fun, I suggest to buy this game duringa sale.. This game brings back so many memories. It's fun to play and worth the $9.. Childhood Memory,with a little work - you get it done.Such an Epic Game.10/10. Very easily moddable - highly recommend cutting VP costs by roughly two thirds so that the AI selects higher end ships, and so that it is possible to build larger fleets.. As a huge Treasure Planet fan, you can imagine my excitement when I found out Steam offered this game. And I must say, I was not let down. This game was a joy to play. The combat is simple and satisfying, and I had a lot of fun picking my crew. In the later chapters when you have more ships in your fleet, gameplay is a blast. And the galaxy environment around you is actually really pretty. Story wise, I'd say it's good. It gives you a nice look at what the characters are doing around five years after the movie. The voice acting was good too. Brian Murray voices Silver, same as the movie, and although Jim's voice actor is different I think he did a great job. Plus, the music is awesome.Sometimes the flying segments are a little slow, but I do think that makes it more realistic. Speed depends on how big your ship is, with the biggest being the slowest. You do spend a bit of each chapter waiting for your ship to reach its destination. Overall, this game is really fun and definitely worth the time. It's not a long game, but I wish it were. If you're a fan of Treasure Planet, this is a must play.Just a little side note for the controls: I found my mouse gave me some resistance while I was playing, which made clicking on the buttons difficult. But all I had to do was change my mouse's polling rate down to 125 and it was back to smooth.. This game is nostalgic for me, it was one of the first strategy video games I had ever played. The mechanics are simple but effective, giving you just enough control over your ships to make the game fun, without the unneeded complexity other strategy games have. Don't get me wrong, complex strategy games can be fun as well. I am a huge fan of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but sometimes it's fun to just sit back, relax, and play a simple fun game. In the campaign, you play as Jim Hawkins, now a naval officer, working his way through the ranks, and resolving a threat to queen and star-nation.The skirmish mode gives you the chance to either play scenarios of various ilks, or to simply fight ships controlled by the computer all day.The gameplay is "simple" in the sense that chess is simple, and a large part of the game is customising the huge range of ships, ranging from a tiny torpedo boat or sloop, to a massive man-o-war for whatever operation you are using them in. The combat gameplay is fast-paced, with everything from cannons to mortars available to arm your ship with, each with its own set of models, sound effects and animations, and based on ship-handling as much as simply carrying the best weapons and crew.. I bought this game since I had the urge to play it again after I lost the disc years ago, AND IT IS JUST AS FUN AS I REMEMBER! The only problem on no fault of steam is, no tools for modding just raw files.
